Hi there! I'm

Denise Janette Bruneau

Author, doctor, wife, mom, child of God. I love writing, reading, yoga, and hanging out with my teenager. Click on the button below to send me a message. I'd love to hear from you!

A Few Autobiographical Words

I'm an author, doctor, wife, mom, daughter, sister, breast cancer survivor, and child of God. I write novels in the genre of contemporary Christian romance that will touch your heart and reach into your soul and remind you how much God loves you.

Education, Credentials and Honors

I'm a medical doctor, trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology. I work full-time as an OB Hospitalist. I trained at the University of Louisville Hospital.

Bragging Rights

I love being a compassionate doctor, and I am known for that. It matters to me that I show God's love to others through what I do. The same goes for the novels I write.

Professional and Literary Affiliation

My professional affiliations are mostly in the medical realm. I am a member of Author Ready, a group orchestrated and run by wonderful author, Richard Paul Evans. I am also a member of the Bluegrass Writer's Coalition.

I love reading, escaping into a wonderful story and walking away from the story feeling a renewed energy and joy. I want to give that same energy and joy to my readers, and I want them to understand God’s great love for them.
Richard Paul Evans and his novels inspired me to write. His stories are unique in that they are written in first person and they are just so good. Once I start reading, I can’t stop until the end!
Richard Paul Evans’ books inspired my writing. His writing has heart and genius. I love a sweet romance that I can relate to. Works by Lynn Austin, Colleen Coble, Ann Gabhart, Julie Klassen, Sally Britton, Sarah E. Ladd, Jennifer Joy, J. Dawn King.
I write in third person and from the heart. I use a lot of dialogue and try to keep it simple and flowing. Adding elements of surprise that pull at the heart always add intrigue. It’s important for me to reach the heart of my readers.
No high drama here! I self-published this first work because I was too impatient to wait on an agent. I’m a bit of a “Type A” personality, and God’s not finished with me yet! I just knew I wanted to tell this story and that someone needed to hear it.
I have two other published novels through Zimbell House Publishing. They are Heart Chimes and Finding Home. You can find them on Amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com. Heart Chimes is stand-alone, but could be considered part of a series with Lavender Sky.
My newest novel is Never Gone. I’m about halfway through, so it should come out in 2024. The theme of this story will be about connection and forgiveness.
God is King of my heart. He saved me from breast cancer and gave me a beautiful family. I enjoy bein a doctor and delivering babies. There’s nothing as wonderful as bringing new life into the world. I love reading, yoga, and hanging out with my teenager

I don’t usually read Christian Fiction; this may have actually been a first for me. Lavender Sky, a modern, Christian novel, was a sweet read with several thoughtful New Testament quotes. With a heartwarming plot, the romantic story was comforting and made me want to be a better person. The themes of Christmas and winter, and all the fun traditions that come with them, like baking cookies, drinking hot chocolate, and sitting by the fire, were prevalent throughout the book. I ended up rooting for all three main characters and wishing the best for them. Bruneau’s writing is unpretentious, driven, and easy to read. Curl up with a cup of French-pressed coffee to read this one!

Heart Chimes Reviewer

I absolutely adored this book! It was light and sweet and the author does a great job with drawing in the reader.
The story seems maybe a little too coincidental but then again, it shows how our God works! If you need a book that will brighten your spirit and give you hope, this is it!

Wow. What a wonderful book! I laughed. I cried to the point where I had to put the book down for a few minutes to collect myself (this was a first). I smiled and felt warm. I felt good.

Denise has written a brilliant story bringing us into the world of a medical student who went through a medical crisis, relationships, good friends and finding home. Her cast of characters are wonderful. So much love, caring. One relationship was truly soul searching. A dream come true.

This is one of my favorite books ever. I look forward to reading it over and over again.
